Umno, Harapan leaders meet Sultan Nazrin amid search for new MB

Umno and Pakatan Harapan leaders have met with Perak ruler Sultan Nazrin Shah at Istana Kinta, Ipoh today.

The Perak Harapan leaders met with the ruler first followed by Perak Umno chief Saarani Mohamad.

Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador and Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming, who is also the Aulong assemblyperson, arrived at 10.38am while Amanah Perak chief Asmuni Awi, who is also the Manjoi assemblyperson, arrived at 10.42am.

Their meeting with Sultan Nazrin took place at 11am. They left at 11.35am.

As soon as they departed, Saarani proceeded into the palace.

The Harapan leaders were tight-lipped as they left and are not expected to issue a statement for now.

Sultan Nazrin had summoned party heads to the palace in search for a new menteri besar candidate.

This is after Umno yesterday moved to oust incumbent Perak menteri besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu, who is from Bersatu, even though they are part of the same government.

Ahmad Faizal yesterday failed a confidence vote in the Perak state assembly after 48 assemblypersons voted against him while only 10 voted in support of the Perak menteri besar.

A total of 24 Umno assemblypersons and 24 opposition representatives voted against Ahmad Faizal. Only one Umno representative voted in support of Ahmad Faizal. Umno initiated the confidence vote.
