Ukrainian student turns leaves into paper

Turning fallen leaves into paper

19-year-old student Valentyn Frechka

started an initiative called "Re-leaf Paper"

Location: Zhytomyr, Ukraine

It produces paper bags and packaging

from fiber extracted from fallen tree leaves

(SOUNDBITE) (Ukrainian) CO-FOUNDER AND CEO OF 'RE-LEAF PAPER' COMPANY, VALENTYN FRECHKA, SAYING: "The idea is very simple. Things which are believed to be waste can be reused or recycled. Leaves are waste that needs to be removed from parks because they emit a lot of carbon as they rot. No matter what people say, leaves must be collected and disposed of properly. It is an opportunity for a customer to use environmentally friendly packaging."
