A production facility of the Russian arms manufacturer Basalt was targeted by a Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) drone in an overnight attack on the city of Tula, sources in Ukrainian intelligence told NV on May 16.

Basalt is a major Russian defense contractor that manufactures and supplies weapons and ammunition for the Russian Army, Air Force, and Navy, which are used in the war against Ukraine. In addition to its main facility in Moscow, Basalt has a scientific and production center in Krasnoarmeysk, Moscow Oblast, and production units in Tula and Nerekhta, Kostroma Oblast.

This follows earlier claims by Russian Telegram channels of the alleged downing of two attack drones in Tula Oblast overnight.

On May 16, the Russian Defense Ministry reported the "interception" and "destruction" of 11 UAVs over Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, and Tula oblasts, as well as in temporarily occupied Crimea.
