Ukraine can prevail with sustained Western support — Stoltenberg

Ukraine can achieve a tangible victory against Russia if it receives continuous and substantial support from NATO, Alliance Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said on May 30.

At the same time, he noted that the challenges Ukraine faces on the battlefield are becoming more serious.

“Ukraine continues to fight bravely, but the challenges it faces are growing increasingly serious,” said Stoltenberg.

“Ukraine can still win — but only with continuous and strong support from NATO allies.”

He added that at the upcoming NATO summit in Washington, the Allies plan to set "support for Ukraine on a more solid foundation."

"This includes strengthening NATO's role in coordinating security assistance and training, as well as long-term financial commitments," the official said.

The 75th anniversary NATO summit will be held from July 9 to 11 in Washington. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in January that he hopes for two outcomes from the summit — deliveries of more air defense systems and concrete steps toward Ukraine's membership in the Alliance.
