Ukraine military shows Snake Island aircraft explosion
STORY: The images show an unidentified helicopter hovering over the island south of Odesa and what appears to be people on the ground. There is a large flash or explosion which obscures the helicopter from view. Smoke then rises from the location.
The footage was released on the Ukrainian Ground Forces YouTube channel on May 8. However the channel did not say when the incident happened or indicate whether the destroyed helicopter was Russian or Ukrainian.
Meanwhile, Russia's defence ministry said in a statement on Sunday it had shot down an Mi-24 helicopter over Snake island at night.
Reuters could not independently verify the report and there was no immediate comment from Ukraine.
