STORY: The corpses were found outside the village of Vorzel, about 6 miles (10 kilometres), from the town of Bucha where mass graves, which Ukraine said contained over 400 bodies, were found in April, drawing widespread international condemnation of Russia.
“The first makeshift grave was already inspected by the experts. It is a man, approximately 40 years of age, in plain clothes. He has two injuries. He was shot in the knee with a gun. The second shot was into his temple,” Kyiv regional police chief Andriy Nebytov told Reuters at the site of the graves on Monday.
Investigators said it would take time to clearly identify the corpses because of their state of decomposition.
Russia says it does not target civilians in what it calls a "special military operation" in Ukraine. Russian officials have specifically dismissed pictures of events in Bucha as "fabrications" staged by Ukrainian authorities after Russian forces left the town at the end of March.
