Bogryap's village of Studenok only had a population of 1,200 before the war started in Ukraine over two months ago. Some 400 people remain in the village in the Kharkiv region, close to the Donetsk border.
Bogryap says fighting rages nearby and he is afraid at times.
Ukraine's general staff has said Russian forces were pressing their offensive in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions and they had captured several settlements.
Ukraine retains control over the majority of its airspace, Britain's defence ministry said, adding that Russia has failed to effectively destroy Ukraine's air force or suppress its air defences.
