Ukraine downs Russian missile over Kirovohrad Oblast

Ukrainian air defenses have shot down a Russian missile over Kirovohrad Oblast, regional governor Andriy Raykovych reported via Telegram on Jan. 16.

Initial reports indicate there was no damage or casualties in the attempted strike.

“Another enemy missile attack did not bypass Kirovohrad Oblast,” said Raykovych.

“(Our) air defenders did their job.”

Public broadcaster Suspilne reported audible explosions in Kropyvnytskyi, Kirovohrad Oblast, at around 3:14 p.m. on Jan. 16.
