UK lawmakers sing 'God Save the King' to Charles III

STORY: Charles, 73, automatically became king of the United Kingdom and 14 other realms including Australia, Canada, Jamaica, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea, following the death of Queen Elizabeth on Thursday (September 8).

At Westminster Hall, lawmakers from both the House of Commons and the upper House of Lords expressed their condolences for the death of his mother, followed by a response from the King and the singing of the national anthem.

Charles then left Westminster to fly to Edinburgh to join his siblings in a solemn procession as the coffin is taken to St Giles’ Cathedral.
