UK Food supply chain workers no longer need to self-isolate

People working in the UK’s food supply chain will no longer need to self-isolate to help prevent a shortage of food supplies. It comes as thousands of supermarket staff have been forced to quarantine after being pinged by the NHS Covid app. The change applies to supermarket depot workers and food manufacturers but does not extend to retail staff working in shops. The new rules could cover up to 10,000 people who can continue working provided they test negative after being pinged. Up to 500 distribution centres and supply chains could be part of the scheme. Further tweaks to the rules will come into force on August 16th.
