Despite getting walloped by Dustin Poirier, Conor McGregor is slight favorite in their third fight

The last time we saw Conor McGregor in the Octagon, he became a meme.

His knockout loss to Dustin Poirier in January had a memorable photo that everyone copied.

The rematch is happening in Las Vegas on July 10. BetMGM put out odds on the fight three months ahead of time, and despite what happened in January, McGregor is the favorite again.

Conor McGregor got a majority of bets in last fight

McGregor opened as a -120 favorite at BetMGM on Wednesday afternoon.

It will be interesting to see the betting patterns. McGregor is the most popular and famous fighter in UFC history. But last time the two fought, Poirier beat him handily.

In that fight back in January, so much money came in on McGregor, he moved from a -190 favorite to -310. That's a massive shift for any event. BetMGM said a day before the fight that 79 percent of the money had come in on McGregor. A lot more money came in on him in parlays that were tied to the AFC and NFC championship games that weekend. Those who took Poirier right before the fight cashed a nice ticket. Poirier was +650 to win by knockout.

McGregor's fame and anticipation over money coming in on him again has likely influenced the odds. Perhaps after the July rematch, there will be some new McGregor memes.
