U.S. Defense Secretary visits Seoul's national cemetery

Austin and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken are traveling in Asia this week for foreign policy and security talks with allies in Japan and South Korea, in a first overseas trip by top level members of President Joe Biden's administration.

After his arrival on Wednesday (March 17), Austin and Suh discussed the security situation on the Korean Peninsula and regional cooperation, Seoul's defense ministry said.

Earlier on Thursday, Austin and Blinken held a meeting with South Korean counterparts and issued a joint statement, vowing to work together on regional issues including climate change, the coronavirus pandemic, trade and North Korea.
