Tyler Perry is following through on his offer to support a 93-year-old South Carolina woman who has been at risk of losing her historic home amid an ongoing legal battle.

A source tells PEOPLE that the billionaire filmmaker and actor is building Josephine Wright a new house on the same land where she currently lives and that "they expect to break ground in the coming weeks."

"Tyler wanted to be able to provide a house for her that was large enough for her entire family to be together including her grandkids," the source tells PEOPLE.

It's a significant update for Wright, who has been locked in a battle with developers trying to force her out of her Hilton Head property that has been with her family since the Civil War, as PEOPLE first reported in July.

"This house means it’s a home, a place where I want to be at this age," Wright, the grandmother to 40, great-grandmother to 50 and great-great-grandmother to 16 children, previously told NBC affiliate WSAV-TV.

TMZ was the first to report the news.

Bailey Point Investment Group, which had been developing the land behind Wright’s house, filed a lawsuit alleging that parts of the home are on their property.

Helen Bacon Hester, attorney for the investment group, did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

The investment group alleged Wright was blocking their progress on a 29-acre, 147-unit plan, WSAV-TV previously reported. But Wright said she wasn't going to cave after they even offered to buy her land. "I've pretty much been a fighter all my life,” she told the outlet.

Her battle reached the 54-year-old entertainer over the summer. In June, he shared Wright's WSAV-TV interview on his Instagram. "Ms. Wright, please tell [me] where to show up and what you need to help you fight," he captioned the post.

Wright’s granddaughter, Charise Graves, said in August that the town of Hilton Head is also on Wright’s side, per ABC affiliate WSB-TV.

"The Town of Hilton Head, standing behind one of their own, has denied the ‘Development Company’s’ request to move on to the next phase of construction until this matter with Grandma Josephine is RESOLVED. So far, there has been no word from the development company,” Graves wrote. “Grandma Josephine is overwhelmed with gratitude from the support she’s received from all over the world.”

It's not the first time that Perry has been known to lend a helping hand — even winning the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the 2021 Oscars for his ongoing philanthropic efforts, which includes a focus on both humanitarian and social justice causes.

A source tells PEOPLE the drive behind Perry's action is simple: "When Tyler sees an injustice, he always tries not just to correct it, but also to show there can be kindness behind every corner."
