"Life has a cruel way of reminding us sometimes, just how quickly it can all be over," the HGTV star wrote of his pet's death
Ty Pennington is saying a sudden goodbye to his beloved dog.
On Monday, Oct. 21, the HGTV star, 60, revealed in an Instagram post that his longtime furry companion, Georgia, had died “unexpectedly” on Sunday, Oct. 20.
“The world lost a special girl 💔,” he wrote alongside photos and videos of himself and Georgia sharing some special moments.
He continued, “Georgia passed away unexpectedly at home in Florida yesterday. Something we were not prepared for. Life has a cruel way of reminding us sometimes, just how quickly it can all be over. We’ll miss you Georgia.”
“We hope you get endless beach walks (runs) and carrots up in heaven,” Pennington finished. “Say hi to Ed 💔#thegoodestgirl.”
The former Trading Spaces contractor also shared a few memories with the late pet. In the first slide, he posed with Georgia on the beach, laying side by side with the pooch as she attempted to lick his cheek.
The sand appeared to be a favorite setting for the duo, as footage Pennington shared showed the pair running along the shore together and hanging out in some beach grass.
In the final slide of his post, which he also reposted on his Instagram Stories set to “Georgia on My Mind” by Ray Charles, the late pet looks into the camera while laying on a couch.
Along with Pennington and his wife, Kellee Merrell, his other pets will also feel Georgia’s absence, he shared.
Also on his Instagram Stories, the star posted a picture of Georgia hanging out with his dog Dory, and shared a bittersweet message.
“Dory sure is going to miss her sweet friend 🥹💔,” Pennington wrote.
