Two people were rescued from the sea off Tenerife after being swept away by a wave on January 2, according to local authorities.
A statement on the incident posted on the website of the Government of the Canary Islands said two people got into difficulty at 11:22 am. “Other people who were in the place jumped into the water and helped those affected to reach an area of rocks,” the statement said.
An injured man was taken away by stretcher, while a woman was winched to safety by a helicopter, the statement added. Both were reported to be suffering from minor lacerations at the time of the rescue, although there had not been an update on their condition since.
