Two People Arrested For Supplying Liam Payne With Drugs Before His Death
Three people have been charged amid an investigation into who provided Liam Payne drugs before his death last month.
On Thursday, prosecutors in Buenos Aires told the Argentinian news outlet, La Nación, they had charged a hotel worker, an alleged drug dealer and a friend of Payne’s in relation to the singer’s fatal fall at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel on Oct. 16. Two of the suspects have been arrested following police raids.
The friend, who allegedly presented himself as Payne’s manager and hid the musical artist’s drug issues from his family, is charged with the supply and facilitation of narcotics and abandonment.
Investigators also claim the friend failed to show up to the scene of Payne’s death on the day of his fall despite being contacted by authorities.
The hotel employee is charged with providing cocaine to the former member of One Direction during his stay at CasaSur Palermo, where he died from injuries sustained in a fall from a third-story balcony.
The alleged drug dealer is accused of supplying the drugs that Payne consumed prior to his death.
A toxicology report found cocaine, crack cocaine and benzodiazepine in the singer’s system at the time of his death, as well as a drug cocktail known as “pink cocaine.” According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, pink cocaine typically consists of a mix of methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA and other substances.
On Wednesday, Payne’s body was reportedly released to his father, Geoff Payne, and transported from Argentina to England to be put to rest.
