Two other engagements were cut from Love Is Blind!
Who needs Love Island when Love Is Blind is the dating show currently taking over our lives? It's safe to say we're quite obsessed with the Netflix original, which involves couples getting engaged without ever seeing each other - and then attempting to make their relationship work in the real world once they have.
Thanks to moments like Jess feeding her dog wine and Lauren's hatred of sharing her space with anyone (including her new fiance, Cameron), we're fully invested in the contestants and their potential weddings. But did you know there were two more couples who got engaged, too?
Series creator and producer Chris Coelen recently revealed two other couples also got engagemed, including Rory Newborough and Danielle Drouin. The pair did separately get some screen time - Rory gave Barnett some advice in episode four and Danielle was seen chatting to the girls early on - but sadly their journey didn't make the final cut.
"We had actually more success on this show than we were even able to document,” Chris told Entertainment Weekly. "As a producer, I was kind of nervous like, ‘is anybody actually gonna get engaged? Is anyone going to make it to the altar?’ And, in the end, we actually had more couples get engaged than we were able to follow on the show."
Speaking of the engagement, Rory told Women’s Health, "Danielle was the first pod that I went into, and I felt it the second I walked in. She was my first choice the entire time."
By day three of the experiment he felt "a lot more gravitas", and by day six he knew Danielle was the woman he wanted to propose to, "We ended up spending 19 or 20 hours a day just talking. I realised it was really hard for me to be vulnerable with other people.
"When I opened up to Danielle and told her how I felt, I literally wrote it in my journal and had to read it to her because I couldn't get it out."
While Rory didn't disclose why he thinks his engagement was cut, he said producers told them, "Good luck, thanks for joining us, but we just can't cover your story' after the experiment had ended.
But sadly their romance "didn’t last long", because Chris thinks it was "one-sided". He later took to Instagram to explain Danielle had feelings for someone else from Love Is Blind(!), writing: "Shortly after @iam_daniellerose and I got engaged and left the show @loveisblindnetflix, we took a trip to Miami together! ☀️ After we returned from this trip though, we ended up breaking it off as Danielle pursued her feelings for another man from the show... 😯🤔 @netflix.'
As for the other couple who got engaged and didn't get shown? Chris did not reveal who they were. Damn.
