Two 'Critically Endangered' Cotton-Top Tamarin Monkeys Born at Michigan Zoo

Two cotton-top tamarin monkeys were born at the Potter Park Zoo in Lansing, Michigan, on October 2, with the zoo recently releasing footage of the critically endangered infants.

Footage of the babies shows them among the zoo’s group of cotton-top tamarins, latching onto the backs of two adults.

“There are only about 6,000 cotton-top tamarins left in the wild due to the destruction of an estimated 95 percent of their forest habitat in Colombia,” wrote the zoo in a press release. “For this reason, Potter Park Zoo’s cotton-top tamarins have a very important role in helping visitors learn about and connect with this endangered species.” Credit: Kaiti Chritz | Potter Park Zoo via Storyful
