TVLine Items: Parasite Star’s Disney+ Show, Martha Stewart’s CNN Docuseries and More

Parasite’s Song Kang-ho is headed to TV.

The actor will make his small-screen debut in the upcoming Disney+ period drama Uncle Samsik, TVLine has learned.

Set in Korea during the 1960s, the show follows Kim San, an ambitious idealist and Albright scholarship recipient hoping to transform his country into an industrial nation and deliver an American-level of affluence to his people.

Determined to be successful, San attracts the attention of Pak Doochill, aka Uncle Samsik, a shady fixer willing to do whatever it takes to complete his boss’ goals. The unlikely pair forms an uneasy alliance in which they navigate the complexities of the established system, united by their shared goal of a prosperous future.

Song will portray fixer Pak Doochill, aka Uncle Samsik, while Mr. Sunshine’s Byun Yo-han will take on the role of the optimistic Kim San. The series is written and directed by Korean filmmaker Shin Yeon-shick (Cobweb, Cassiopeia).

* The Television Academy has announced that the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series — which was originally slated to be awarded during the Creative Arts ceremony — will now be handed out as part of the 75th Primetime Emmys, airing Monday, Jan. 15 at 8/7c on Fox.

* Fox News has named Jimmy Failla the host of Fox News Saturday Night. He’ll make his debut Saturday, Jan. 13 at 10/9c.

* Paramount+ has released a trailer for June, a documentary chronicling the life of June Carter Cash and streaming on Tuesday, Jan. 16:
