Turf Remains Intact After Tree Uprooted by Effects of Hurricane Ida

A tree knocked over by powerful winds whipped up by Hurricane Ida lifted turf off the ground in front of a home in Morgan City, Louisiana, on August 29.

Local resident Heath Hoffpauir filmed a video that shows a tree pulling the turf from the ground.

“Check this out. Tree peeled up like a carpet, " Hoffpauir said in the video.

Local media reported the eye of Hurricane Ida missed Morgan City as it made landfall in southeast Louisiana. The hurricane first made landfall at Port Fourchon at around midday before making a second landfall near Galliano at 2 pm on August 29. Credit: Heath Hoffpauir via Storyful
