Tunisian President Celebrates Referendum Win

Supporters of Tunisian President Kais Saied cheered as the president greeted them on Habib Bourguiba Avenue, Tunis in the early hours of July 26, after a referendum vote on a new constitution granted the executive greater powers.

Video posted to the official Facebook page of the Tunisian presidency shows supporters celebrating and waving flags, with some singing the national anthem, while others chant, “We would sacrifice our souls and our blood for you, Saied," as the president walks through Habib Bourguiba Avenue in central Tunis.

International news outlets, citing an exit poll taken by the Sigma Conseil Institute and issued by state TV, reported that 92.3 percent of voters supported the constitution, while turnout was at 25 percent.
