KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 7 (Bernama) -- Leading digital insurer in the region, TUNE Protect Group Berhad (Tune Protect) plans to carry out the third and final phase of its Financial Literacy, Empowerment & Entrepreneurship (FLEE) programme for Orang Asli, early this year.
Tune Protect in a statement said that it would encompass the sponsorship of new laptops, productivity suite training, basic bookkeeping skills and sharing of marketing ideas to help them manage their business and finances effectively thereafter.
"By improving the livelihood of the Orang Asli communities, Tune Protect hopes that more Orang Asli youths will be able to venture out of their comfort zones in search of a better life," according to the statement.
FLEE is a flagship programme started since 2018 for Orang Asli communities with the aim of supporting and encouraging them to step out of their comfort zones and venture into entrepreneurship as a way out of poverty.
The first phase were carried out in late 2018, while the second phase of the bootcamp in September 2019.
Since then, the FLEE programme has successfully benefitted Orang Asli communities from five different tribes and states.
Throughout the programme, the Orang Asli youths are introduced to four practical concepts which include Earning through entrepreneurship; Saving for business expansion and for rainy days; Spending on living essentials and necessities; and Protection against mishaps that may occur.
