Tune in to the ‘Murphy Brown’ Revival This Fall

This fall, Candice Bergen is back on the air and behind the desk in the much-anticipated revival of Murphy Brown.

When it premiered in 1988, the show was a groundbreaking sitcom about broadcast news anchor and investigative journalist Murphy Brown and her colleagues. Throughout its 10-year run, it won 18 Emmys and 3 Golden Globes and was known to examine current political and cultural events through a satirical lens.

The first season saw Brown take the desk at the fictional FYI program, and each week, she and her colleagues dealt with stumbling blockssome of which they made themselves—as they tracked down stories, sources, and interviews for the show. They tackled issues big and small, with life changes and challenges also making their way into the stories each week.

Murphy Brown is coming back to CBS this fall in a 13-episode order that’s set to premiere in September. Bergen will reprise her role as Murphy Brown alongside returning cast members Faith Ford, Joe Regalbuto, and Grant Shaud (as Corky, Frank, and Miles, respectively), as well as new additions to the cast, including Nik Dodani, Jake McDorman, and Tyne Daily.

Rumor has it that one of the conflicts of the new season will be between Murphy Brown and her son, Avery, who is now all grown up and an anchor at a rival news show. We’re looking forward to seeing the Murphy Brown gang again—even the set looks familiar.

You can catch the new season of Murphy Brown on CBS on Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. beginning September 27, 2018.
