Trump says he wants to debate Pelosi: ‘She wouldn’t last 5 minutes’
Former President Trump on Wednesday said he wants to debate former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), saying she wouldn’t last five minutes with him.
“Crazy Nancy Pelosi is a Cognitive mess. She has now turned against Crooked [President Biden.] She’s saying he doesn’t have what it takes,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social. “Really? I’d love to debate her about what the Radical Left Democrats have done to ruin our Country. She wouldn’t last 5 minutes!”
Trump’s post followed another from earlier in the day in which he said Pelosi was “trying to convince anyone that will listen that” Biden “is a mental giant.”
“Crazy Nancy Pelosi is more of a cognitive mess than Sleepy Crooked Joe. She also suffers from a terminal case of TDS, Trump Derangement Syndrome,” Trump said in the earlier post.
Trump and Pelosi have a long history of antagonism, which includes Pelosi ripping up a copy of Trump’s State of the Union address just after he presented it in 2020.
Pelosi also led the House during both of Trump’s impeachments, and has repeatedly discussed the danger she sees if Trump were to regain the White House.
“She is a total nut job, who impeached me TWICE, and lost. Now I see her going around, barely, and saying that I am a threat to Democracy,” Trump said in his post. “No, this is just Radical Left Democrat Disinformation, which is all that they’re good at. She’s trying to convince anyone that will listen that Crooked Joe is a mental giant, and in great form, which everyone knows, he is not.”
Biden is facing calls to withdraw from the race against Trump after a shaky presidential debate performance last month. He has insisted he will not be pushed out of the race and has criticized elites for trying to do so.
Pelosi said Wednesday that it’s Biden’s decision “to decide if he’s going to run” as he dealt with calls from those in his party to step out of the race.
“It’s up to the president to decide if he is going to run,” Pelosi said on MSNBC. “We’re all encouraging him to make that decision. Because time is running short.
“But he’s beloved, he is respected and people want him to make that decision, not me.”
In an emailed statement to The Hill on Thursday, Pelosi spokesperson Ian Krager said Trump’s debate challenge “is just the former president’s usual projection of his own insanity.”
