Donald Trump apparently isn’t into New Year’s resolutions.

Instead of getting introspective as the year comes to an end, he’s using the finals hours of 2024 to lash out at the lawmakers he previously deemed “the enemy within” in a classic Trump rant.

“We just won a Historic Landslide and Mandate from the American People, but Senate Democrats are organizing to improperly stall and delay the confirmation process of many of our Great Nominees,” he wrote on his social media platform Truth Social on Tuesday. “They will try all sorts of tricks starting very soon. Republicans must not allow them to do that.”

Trump’s victory was indeed decisive, with Republicans claiming all three branches of government, and historic, since a convicted felon had never previously won a presidential election.

But it wasn’t exactly a landslide. Trump won 312 votes in the Electoral College, just six more than President Joe Biden won in 2020. He won the popular vote by 1.5 percent, compared to Biden’s 4.5 percent in 2020.

Landslide or not, the Senate has a constitutional duty to give advice and consent on Cabinet nominees and other high-level government appointments.

Some of Trump’s picks have been so controversial that members of his own party are skeptical about some of the choices.

Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, whom Trump has tapped to oversee national intelligence, Kash Patel, his pick to lead the FBI, and Pete Hegseth, Trump’s nominee for defense secretary, all reportedly face an uphill battle thanks to some GOP senators’ resistance.

But Trump’s ire was trained mostly on Democrats, perhaps because last week Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer revealed that his party had been laser-focused on confirming a record number of federal judges in hopes of creating a bulwark against Trump’s agenda.

Still, he also had a message for his own party.

“We have a Country to run, and many big problems to solve, mostly created by Democrats. REPUBLICANS, BE SMART AND TOUGH!!!” Trump wrote on Tuesday.
