Trump GoFundMe for Hurricane Helene victims raises more than $3M

Former President Trump’s GoFundMe launched in the wake of Hurricane Helene raised more than $3 million Tuesday for individuals impacted by the Category 4 storm.

“President Donald J. Trump has launched this GoFundMe campaign as an official response for MAGA supporters to offer their financial assistance to their fellow Americans impacted by Hurricane Helene,” the page reads.

Meredith O’Rourke, Trump’s campaign finance director, organized the fundraiser, which was supported by Florida Sen. Rick Scott (R), the musician Kid Rock and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White, who contributed $50,000 each.

The top donor is Trump’s close friend, Steve Witkoff, who poured $500,000 into the former president’s disaster relief efforts.

The GOP leader has been accused of “politicizing” Democrats’ hurricane response efforts by falsely claiming President Biden failed to contact Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) to provide resources. Kemp set the record straight Monday praising Biden for his immediate assistance.

Trump visited the state on Monday and distributed supplies to residents. His opponent, Vice President Harris, is expected to visit Georgia on Wednesday to evaluate the storm’s impact. A Tuesday Quinnipiac University poll put Trump ahead of Harris by 6 points in the Peach State.
