Trucks Stuck in Hours-Long Interstate Traffic Jam as Snowstorm Slams Texas

Traffic was stopped on parts of Interstate 10 near Van Horn, Texas, on Thursday, December 31, as crews worked to clear multiple accidents that left drivers stranded on snow-covered roadways overnight, according to reports.

The Texas Department of Transportation’s El Paso branch said “dangerous” snow and ice impacted numerous roads in the area on Wednesday night. Multiple roads were closed temporarily and “severe backup in each direction” of I-10 was reported on Wednesday night.

Snow-clearing crews spent the evening moving stranded vehicles and waking up sleeping drivers who were waiting on I-10. Transportation officials said early on Thursday morning that there were still “miles of stranded sleeping drivers.”
