A tiny kitten held up traffic on a busy Florida highway, but not for long, thanks to some quick-thinking heroes.

In mid-May, a truck driver and an Alachua police officer teamed up to stop traffic and save a kitten they had spotted in the middle of two lanes of busy traffic. A Mi Apa Latin Cafe truck driver spotted the black feline first, splayed out and scared, on US Highway 441, and Officer Stanfield of Florida's Alachua Police Department arrived after to assist the driver with their good deed, according to CBS affiliate 12 News.

In a video of the rescue shared on the Alachua Police Department's Facebook page, the Mi Apa Latin Cafe driver uses their truck to block one lane of traffic to help protect the kitten from oncoming cars. Officer Stanfield then exits his vehicle and walks to the other lane of traffic that the kitten is caught between. He carefully scoops up the cat while cars whiz by.

“I just found a baby kitten in the middle of 441,” Officer Stanfield, who was on patrol then, says into his radio during the clip. The video shared on Facebook continues with footage of the police officer driving with the rescued kitten, who is small enough to fit in his hand.

The Facebook update also noted that the kitten is now safe. "We're thrilled to share that this little furball has found a loving forever home with one of our amazing dispatchers," the post concluded.
