Tropical Storm Nicholas Threatens Texas With 'Life-Threatening' Storm Surge

Southern Texas prepared for tropical storm conditions as Storm Nicholas, in the Gulf of Mexico, approached landfall on Monday, September 13, bringing the risk for a life-threatening storm surge, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.

Video shared by Laura Magnuson shows wind and rain hitting Galveston Island on Monday morning, she said.

The NHC said portions of the southern and middle Texas coastline should expect flash flooding, dangerous storm surge, and gusty winds on Monday.
