Tropical Depression Ida brought heavy rainfall and strong winds to the Florida panhandle on August 30, a day after making landfall as a Category 4 hurricane in Louisiana.
The National Hurricane Center issued a flash flood and heavy rainfall warning for areas of Mississippi, Alabama, and the western Florida Panhandle on the afternoon of August 30, as Tropical Depression Ida moved north-northeastward over western Mississippi. The National Weather Service in Mobile warned of thunderstorms in the area capable of producing “damaging wind gusts and potentially a tornado.”
