Trooper Narrowly Avoids Collision as Driver Tries to Pass in No-Passing Zone

An Oregon state trooper narrowly avoided a collision with a vehicle that violated traffic law by crossing double yellow lines on an Oregon highway on August 2.

This footage shows a white sedan attempting to pass a truck on a two-way road. The trooper was able to avoid a head-on collision by pulling over onto the shoulder of the US-20 highway near Burns.

Oregon State Police wrote that they “are seeing this happen way too often. Drivers ignoring the double yellow lines on the roadways” – which indicates no passing. They advised drivers to perceive the double yellow lines as “a solid wall that you cannot cross.” Credit: Oregon State Police via Storyful
