Tree Crushes Car in Astoria as Tropical Storm Isaias Batters New York

There were several eyewitness reports of trees collapsing on homes and vehicles in Astoria, New York, on Tuesday, August 4, and Wednesday, August 5, as the city came to terms with the damage wrought by Tropical Storm Isaias.

This video shows a car crushed by a tree in the neighborhood. There were dozens of similar reports on social media in the aftermath of the storm, as hundreds of trees were felled.

Damage was reported to buildings, and there were widespread power outages as the storm passed over New York and the Tri-State area.
