Tree Branch Crashes Into House Amid Icy Weather in Austin

A tree branch crashed into a house in Austin, Texas, as winter weather continued to impact the state on Wednesday, February 1.

The National Weather Service (NWS) said power outages and tree damage would become more likely due to increasing ice in the region.

Austin Energy reported that thousands of customers were left without power and said extreme winter weather through February 3 would cause local outages.

Footage posted to Twitter by Jay Michaels shows part of an ice-covered tree he said came “crashing” into his house.

Michaels told Storyful that another tree also fell and hit the house, but didn’t break through.

The NWS issued multiple weather advisories for the southern US and warned of hazardous travel conditions. Credit: Jay Michaels via Storyful
