Travis Kelce is welcoming the president to the Super Bowl with open arms—months after Donald Trump declared his hatred for Taylor Swift, the NFL star’s girlfriend.

A day after Trump announced he would be the first sitting American president to attend the big game, Kelce told reporters at a Wednesday press conference that it was “a great honor.”

“That’s awesome. It’s a great honor,” Kelce said. “I think you know, no matter who the president is, I know I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life, you know, and having the president there—it’s the best country in the world—and that’s pretty cool.”

Months before, while on the campaign trail, Trump had lashed out against the other half of the superstar couple after she endorsed Kamala Harris, his democratic opponent.

“I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” he wrote in a September post on Truth Social.

In her Instagram post announcing the endorsement, Swift wrote, “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.”

“I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos,” Swift added.

Kelce never made a public endorsement in the presidential race.

The all-pro tight end and the 14-time Grammy winner went public with their relationship in Oct. 2023.

Like last year, Swift is expected to be in attendance at the Super Bowl this weekend to support her boyfriend as his team competes for their third-straight championship.

Because he was preparing for the match against the Philadelphia Eagles, Kelce skipped the Grammys this past weekend, where Swift was nominated in six categories but came home empty-handed.

Trump’s announcement that he’ll be at the Super Bowl has so far failed to reverse the downward-trending ticket prices for the game, dipping below $4,000 on reseller sites.
