Arsenal have made an offer for one of their former midfielders, while Manchester United continue to look at Cristiano Ronaldo replacements…
GUNNERS WANT THEIR FORMER MIDFIELDER
Premier League side Arsenal are preparing an offer for AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer this summer, according to reports.
The Algeria international, who came through the youth ranks in north London, made one senior appearance for the Gunners before leaving to join Empoli in 2017. His game has gone from strength to strength since then with Bennacer now a regular for Milan, making 105 appearances in his three seasons at the Serie A giants.
And now Arseanl want him back this summer as they search for another midfielder to add to their squad with some reports linking them heavily to Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans. The Gunners have already brought in Fabio Vieira from Porto to strengthen that area but Arteta still wants more.
And now Calciomercatoweb claims that ‘possible outgoings must also be evaluated’ at AC Milan after bringing in Junior Messias, Alessandro Florenzi and Divock Origi already this summer.
The report adds that Arsenal ‘offers €40m (£34m)’ for Bennacer with the hope of putting ‘pressure’ on Milan after their ‘viewfinder’ ended up on the Algerian.
That bid from Arsenal could ’cause Milan to falter’ but with the loss of Franck Kessie to Barcelona already this summer, Milan would have to ‘find two midfielders on the market to fill the gap’.
MAN UTD SEARCHING FOR RONALDO REPLACEMENT
Paulo Dybala is one name Man Utd are considering as they look to replace Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, according to reports in Italy.
Ronaldo has made it clear to the Red Devils hierarchy that he wants to leave the Premier League club this summer if they receive a ‘satisfactory’ offer. The Portugal international scored 24 goals in 38 matches in all competitions but he still couldn’t help them qualify for the Champions League as they finished sixth in the Premier League.
The 37-year-old is United’s only recognised centre-forward available with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial playing mainly in wider roles for the Red Devils.
Dybala left Juventus on the expiry of his contract last week and there are a number of clubs interested in his services with Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio insisting Man Utd are one of those sides.
Di Marzio told Wettfreunde: “Inter pulled out, AC Milan and Roma are on the list, but will enter the race only if he decides to earn a less. They haven’t bothered signing him yet.
“Manchester United, yes, if Ronaldo left, but they are looking for a number 9 and if they get Dybala, they will have to change their playing style. But he’s on Manchester United’s list.”
