Trader Joe’s Recalls Nuts Sold in 16 States Due to Possible Salmonella Contamination

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration announced today a recall of Trader Joe's 50% Less Sodium Roasted & Salted Whole Cashews for potential Salmonella contamination.
Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause fever and serious gastrointestinal issues, including nausea and vomiting. It is particularly serious for the very young, frail, or elderly individuals, and those with weakened immune systems. On rare occasions, Salmonella can get into the bloodstream, leading to arterial infections, endocarditis, and even arthritis. No illnesses have been reported as of the recall date.
To see if you have purchased any cashews impacted by this recall, look for "Lot No:" on the back panel of the packaging. The lot numbers included in this recall are:

No other lot numbers were impacted by this recall. You can also check the packaging for the country of origin, India or Vietnam. The cashews were sold in the following states at Trader Joe's stores: AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, ID, KS, LA, NM, NV, OK, OR, TN, TX, UT, and WA.
What To Do If You Have the Recalled Products at Home
If you purchased cashews from the recalled lots, you can return the product to the store for a full refund or dispose of it. If you choose to throw it away, wrap the package tightly to prevent other people or animals from ingesting the cashews.
