'Tough Guy' Texas Police Officer Cuddles Orphaned Baby Deer and Raccoon

The police department in New Braunfels, Texas, showed its softer side when it released a video on June 2 of an officer cuddling an abandoned baby raccoon and bottle-feeding a baby deer.

In a statement accompanying the Facebook post, the department said: “Serving and protecting even our four-legged friends! He may look like a tough guy but Officer Flugrath is an animal lover (he’s still a tough guy too), often nursing abandon animals back to health.”

Police said the fawn was rescued after its mother was hit by a car and would not have been able to survive on its own. The raccoon was rescued by the department’s animal welfare officers after it was abandoned by its mother. Officer Flugrath has nursed several raccoons back to health – some he releases back into the wild, and others he keeps as pets, the department said. [MUSIC PLAYING]

- Are you going to nurse it back to health? [LAUGHS]

[MUSIC - FOXXI FEAT NATALIE MAJOR "BORN FOR THIS"] No I don't wait for tomorrow. No I won't give this a break. Don't need to beg, steal, or borrow. Watch me as I walk this way. I'm busy building an empire. Don't really care what they say. I'm only here for a good time. Drown them out like Namaste. Mind over matter, take control. All m,y visions are set.
