Tottenham manager search: Contact with agents already underway as left-field name emerges on Levy wanted list
Tottenham have reportedly made contact with the agents of a surprise name to replace Antonio Conte, as the Italian’s stay in north London continues to remain on a knife-edge.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is currently said to be considering whether to sack Conte during the international break following his controversial comments in the wake of Saturday’s 3-3 draw at bottom club Southampton.
Conte accused his players of being ‘selfish’ and not being able to cope with pressure after they thew away a late 3-1 lead at St Mary’s.
And while Conte, who is currently back in Italy, is said to feel that his job is safe there are reports that Levy is actively looking to replace the former Chelsea boss in the coming days.
Conte’s contract with the club is up in the summer anyway so there will be little to pay in the way of compensation. Indeed, the fact that he has refused to commit his future to the club is known to have frustrated some figures at the club.
Former boss Mauricio Pochettino remains the favourite to return to his old club. However, the likes of Thomas Tuchel, Robert De Zerbi, Luis Enrique and more recently Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou have also been linked with the job.

But now a report from German outlet BILD claims that Levy is considering replacing Conte with Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Oliver Glasner.
Indeed, the report states that contact has already been made with representatives of the Austrian.
The 48-year-old has enjoyed tremendous success with Frankfurt, leading them to Europa League glory in 2021/22.
Glasner is also said to have impressed the Spurs hierarchy as Frankfurt held the north London club to a goalless Champions League draw in early October before narrowly losing the return fixture in England 3-2 just eight days later.
The Austrian would, however, be a real left-field choice if he was to take over from Conte, given the other names linked with the role.
Pochettino remains the more logical option, given that he still lives in north London. But it remains to be seen whether Levy wants to go over old ground with the coach who took the club to a Champions League final in 2019.
For his part, the popular Argentine has always claimed that he had unfinished business at Tottenham and craves a return.
Spurs are not back in action now until April 3 when they head to Everton in the Premier League. It just remains to be seen who will be in charge at Goodison Park.
