Tottenham have Antonio Conte to thank, as crucial star Harry Kane is now reportedly “happier than ever” after coming close to leaving.
Kane has long been the main man at Tottenham. Even when he was a fresh face in the Premier League, there was a sense that he was a special talent.
In his first full season in the top flight, he bagged 21 goals and provided five assists. In the next few seasons, he established himself as one of the most deadly strikers in the world.
He has won the Premier League’s golden boot on three separate occasions, with 23, 25 and 29 goals, respectively.
On the international stage, he has shown his prowess, too. Kane won the World Cup golden boot in 2018 with six goals, while captaining England to the semi-finals.
Clearly, he is one of the best goalscorers England have ever seen, and Spurs have reaped the benefits of that for years. Kane is the club’s second-highest goalscorer, behind the legendary Jimmy Greaves.
He is also third on the list of all-time top Premier League goalscorers. However, there was a time that he could have continued to bang the goals in in the Prem, but for another side.
Manchester City were reported to have bid £100million for the Spurs talisman in the summer of 2021. That was after he seemingly wanted to leave, admitting his career was at a crossroads.
However, despite months of talk on the transfer, nothing came of it, and Kane remained a Tottenham player.
Kane happy, and Spurs have Conte to thank
The striker might have begun to falter after not making his big transfer to City. As is the case so often, players have a big drop-off after a major move falls through.
However, Kane clearly did not have any such drop-off. The star striker bagged 27 goals in all competitions last season, and has followed that up with 11 so far this season.
It seems he is in a great place at the moment, too, as per one journalist.
“I spoke to a close person to him a month ago and he told me he’s never been happier, so that’s another reason to be on the Antonio Conte bandwagon, because it is down to him,” he told GIVEMESPORT.
Upon that evidence, it would seem Spurs are indebted to Conte. He has catered to Kane’s needs since he has been at the club, and the striker has continued to thrive.
The striker is clearly enjoying himself in the manager’s system.
Of course, Kane is likely to score goals no matter the situation. However, other managers could have been more reliant on other stars, given Kane’s future remained up in the air.
Conte clearly recognises what a good talent he has on his hands, and wants to do his all to retain him for as long as possible.
Tottenham will remain in a good position for as long as they have Kane to call upon.
