Tornado Causes Damage at Tallahassee Airport

A tornado prompted the temporary closure of Tallahassee International Airport in Florida on Wednesday, January 27, as crews carried out an assessment of the damage.

Meteorologist Walker R Snowden shot this footage next to the airport, showing a tree that had fallen on a parked vehicle.

The City of Tallahassee tweeted photos showing damage to a small airplane and a hangar.

One of the airport’s two runways was reopened shortly after 1.45 pm. The second runway reopened about an hour later after “final debris removal and safety checks,” the airport said.
