Top HK performers record theme song for new movie

13 Apr – After the launch of the new star-studded pandemic-themed movie project, "All U Need Is Love", it was revealed that the upcoming movie's soundtrack also boasts of a huge number of top singers.

As reported on Mingpao, the theme song, "If Love is in My Heart" has recently been recorded by various performers of note that include Andy Lau, Jacky Cheung, Pakho Chau, Joey Yung, William So, Fiona Sit, and the band Grasshopper, while the song itself was written and composed by celebrity couple, Lowell Lo and Susan Tang.

Lowell, who spoke to the media about the project, stated that everything had been done in a rush - from composing, recording, to arranging the said track. However, everybody involved did so with a united heart, which made the whole process a meaningful one.

"Through this collaboration, I now know many new faces and talented voices," he added.

He also praised Joey Yung's vocals, saying that she has a beautiful voice. To that, the singer gushed, "I was very excited about working with Lowell for the first time. It was a rare opportunity."

The upcoming movie – a collaboration between several film giants including China Star Entertainment Group, Edko Films, Emperor Motion Pictures, One Cool Film Production, and Shaw Brothers Pictures International - is a response from Hong Kong filmmakers to the concerning state of the film industry that has been deeply impacted by both the previous Hong Kong protests and the subsequent pandemic.

The story revolves around the many hotel guests who were forced to quarantine together after the hotel they were residing in was suspected to be the source of a COVID-19 outbreak. It stars various big names that include Louis Koo, Francis Ng, Gordon Lam, Fiona Sit, Tony Leung Ka Fai, Carlos Chan, Julian Cheung, Eric Tsang and Chrissie Chau.

The movie is scheduled for release on 22 April.
