Disney can touch the hearts of every generation of parents and their children — but how much does it impact their names?

In a recent study completed by BeenVerified.com, the team used the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) baby names data to examine how popular Disney characters have impacted baby naming trends in the United States.

The most influential Disney name, as ranked by their percent change from the 5-year average, comes from the 2012 film Brave, which stars Merida, a strong-willed and adventurous princess. The name saw a 1,150% percent change in the year of the film's release.

"Koda," which comes from the young and spirited bear cub from Brother Bear, placed second with a 937% percent change in 2004, a year after the film was released.

Third place goes to another princess: Moana. The 2016 film following a fearless Polynesian princess brought the name a 488% increase. Zootopia hit the box office that same year, landing Finnick in fourth place with a 408% increase in 2016.

The release of Encanto in 2021 brought Mirabel into the fifth-place spot. The optimistic and determined protagonist gave the name a 271% increase in popularity in the U.S. The ninth-place spot also goes to a name from Encanto: Camilo. The shape-shifting member of the Madrigal family gave the name a 142% increase that year.

Sixth place goes to Ariel from The Little Mermaid. The name "stands out" from the others, because "the main character’s name saw a 253% increase in the year after the movie’s release, and grew by around 50% again in 1991," Been Verified explained.

Next up is Flynn, which saw a 166% in the year after Tangled's release in 2010. Raya, the courageous warrior from 2021's Raya and the Last Dragon, had a 161% increase that year, making it the eighth most popular Disney-inspired name.

Last but certainly not least, Elsa lands in the tenth place position. From the 2010 film Frozen, the queen's name reached a 126% increase at its peak in 2014.
