'Too Close for Comfort': Chaotic Scene as Truck Crashes Into Convertible and Lands Atop Parked Cars in Houston

Houston police said a man and a woman were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries late on February 24, after a spectacular crash saw a truck hit a convertible and land atop several parked cars.

Video by Darius Herron shows the chaotic aftermath of the crash, as disbelieving bystanders look on.

Herron told Storyful that he and his friend had pulled up to grab some food when they heard a “really loud screech coming down from the street,” after which the truck went “completely airborne” and hit a pole.

Herron described the scene as “too close for comfort,” as he and his friend were about to cross the intersection when the truck appeared.

“Always make sure you’re right with God because things can change in a blink of an eye,” he said.

Police told local media the driver of the truck was in custody. The suspect had “a lengthy criminal history. You name it. He’s probably done it,” a spokesman told KTRK. Credit: Darius Herron via Storyful
