Tom Lockyer: Luton Town captain undergoing tests and scans after cardiac arrest
Luton Town captain Tom Lockyer is undergoing tests in hospital after suffering an on-pitch cardiac arrest against Bournemouth.
The 29-year-old footballer collapsed during Saturday's Premier League encounter at the Vitality Stadium, leading to the abandonment and subsequent cancellation of the match at 1-1.
In a statement, Luton Town confirmed he remained in hospital and is undergoing tests and scans. The "next steps for his recovery" will be determined after the results of those come in.
"We all want the very best for Tom, his partner Taylor and the whole Lockyer family, and politely ask that his and their privacy is respected at this difficult time," a spokesperson added.
Wales' national team also shared their thanks to first responders, saying: "Diolch to the medical staff for their quick response and treatment. Our thoughts are with Tom and his family."
Fabrice Muamba - who also suffered a cardiac arrest during an FA Cup match between Bolton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur in 2012 - said on X: "It's great to hear you are responsive and alert. Rest up and God willing you recover well.
"Thinking of you and your family today."

Paramedics and staff rushed to resuscitate the centre-back while manager Rob Edwards ushered his players away from the field.
In May this year, Lockyer collapsed 12 minutes into Luton's play-off final against Coventry City, where he was carried out of Wembley Stadium on a stretcher and taken to hospital.
Speaking to Sky Sports in June, Lockyer confirmed he had an atrial flutter, a type of heart arrythmia which he said was "probably the least severe heart condition you could have".
He underwent corrective surgery shortly after the collapse in May, and was "given the all-clear" to play in the Premier League.
