A tiny three-month-old Indian star tortoise enjoyed a snack of strawberry in his new home at the Australian Reptile Park, video from the park shows.
Tiny Tim the tortoise weighs 42 grams and is 5.4 cm long. He’s the park’s newest resident.
The tortoise usually eats salad greens and grasses, but can have strawberries as a treat, the park said. This video shows Tiny Tim crawling on a bowl of the fruit and snacking on berries.
Indian star tortoises are listed as vulnerable species by the IUCN Red List, and they are often victims to illegal pet trading, the park said.
“As cute as he is, it’s important to highlight the horrors of the global illegal reptile trade, of which this species is a very unfortunate victim," said head of reptiles Jake Meney.
