Timelapse Footage Shows Volcanic Ash Cloud That Led to Weekend Flight Disruption in La Palma

Timelapse footage from Friday, October 15, shows an ash cloud growing from the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the Spanish island of La Palma.

The presence of ash around this time led the Canary Islands flag carrier Binter Canarias to cancel flights on Saturday, before resuming them early on Monday.

The Cumbre Vieja volcano has been erupting for several weeks, and lava flowing from it has destroyed more than 1,800 buildings. Credit: IAC Astrofisica via Storyful
