Rice cookers make the best rice, hands down. However, if you have a small kitchen, it’s hard to justify the countertop real estate, until now. ALDI’s selling the cutest, two-cup rice cookers, and I just had to buy one for my mom and dad.
My parents moved out of the big house I grew up in, and they now split their time between a condo in Florida and a Midwest ranch house. Neither place has as big a kitchen as their old house, and to save space my mom got rid of the ALDI rice cooker I gave her many years ago.
Why I Love ALDI's Ambiano Two-Cup Rice Cooker
When I saw that ALDI is having a “dorm sale” right now, with smaller versions of its regular-sized appliances, I was intrigued. I love ALDI’s regular rice cookers, but if you live in a smaller space like my parents, it’s not feasible to store a lot of different appliances, and if you only cook rice occasionally, it’s not worth it.
Now, the Ambiano two-cup rice cooker will make perfect rice in a small kitchen possible. This darling rice cooker is light blue in color (it's also available in black) with a clear, tempered glass lid that allows you to see the rice as it cooks, and it comes with a rice spoon and measuring cup. It's just big enough to make two cups of cooked rice (one cup uncooked). Best of all, it only costs $12.99.

It’s exactly like the larger rice cookers ALDI has sold, but mini. It’s perfect for one or two people, and it’s made for small space living—campers, dorm rooms, apartments, or just tiny kitchens.
I adore it, and my mom loves it, too. It makes rice in 20 to 30 minutes, depending on how much you cook and what type of rice you use. That’s a bit faster than my regular-sized rice cooker, and like larger rice cookers, it cooks the rice perfectly without burning it. You don’t have to watch it like you do when cooking rice on the stove, allowing you to focus on the rest of your meal while it’s steaming.
Mostly, I use my rice cooker for, well, rice, but you can also make quinoa, oatmeal, and lentils in it, too. These little rice cookers are perfectly sized for making oatmeal, which my mom loves.
My son wants me to buy another two-cup rice cooker so he can take it with him when he goes to college. That’s four years away, but I like that he’s planning ahead, and at such an amazing price I can't say no.
