TikToker on 9-Month World Cruise Says ‘I Hate It Here’ Amid Canceled Excursions, Hate from Other Passengers

'9 months? No can do, babe,' passenger Marc Sebastian said

A TikToker who signed up for a nine-month world cruise is going viral for his dramatic updates on how the trip is going.

On Dec. 27, a social media user named Marc Sebastian told his TikTok followers he'd be embarking on “the ultimate world cruise.” In the clip, he explained that a brand reached out to him asking if he wanted to participate in the getaway. Sebastian did not identify the sponsor, but he did describe it as an "unexpected and big" brand.

Since then, his videos have racked up an impressive amount of views, with his experience of the Drake Passage -- the body of water between South America and Antarctica -- being seen over 9 million times.

Royal Caribbean’s Ultimate World Cruise began on Dec. 10. The nine-month vacation is scheduled to last for 274 nights as the Serenade of the Seas visits 11 world wonders and more than 60 countries.

“For 18 nights? fine. But for 9 months? No can do babe,” Sebastian captioned a TikTok of himself giving a room tour last week.

“The room was $8,500 for 18 nights on the South American/Antarctic leg,” he said while showing off his third floor ocean-view stateroom. As the clip continued, he filmed his closet, saying that he didn’t understand how anyone would fit “nine months of clothes in here.”

Once he got to the bathroom, he noted that the shower was “super small,” but appreciated the efficiency “because the water only comes in three temperatures — which is freezing, scolding hot, or third-degree burns, and I actually like a shower that takes the decision-making out of my morning.”

More recently, Sebastian expressed his frustrations with certain winter excursions being canceled due to weather conditions and wind gusts.

“I need to go see the penguins. There were a bunch of schedule mishaps. Excursions got canceled. I need to see the king penguins!” he said in a clip posted on Monday.

“This is the best anti-ad for a cruise I’ve ever seen. Talk about the opposite of relaxation,” one TikTok user commented.

After getting out of bed and meeting up with other passengers for an excursion, Sebastian filmed himself stating that he and two others had come together to form an alliance on the ship.

He also complained about other guests having trouble lining up in an orderly fashion ahead of scheduled activities.

“I don’t know why this is so difficult. Have you guys ever gone to school?” he asked.

It seems Sebastian has plenty of time to get acquainted with his fellow passengers as the #RoyalCaribbeanUltimateWorldCruise is sailing until Sept. 10, 2024.

However, others aboard the vessel seem to be enjoying their home away from home — with some making faux MTV Cribs content and others bonding with the ship’s staff.

The trip will cover the Americas, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Mediterranean and Europe and beyond.

Ticket prices are based on a variety of 1,073 staterooms and the entire 274-night trip ranges from $53,999 per person to $117,599 per person. Tickets for different legs of the trip are still available to book.
