"Friends" fans are paying tribute to Matthew Perry on TikTok, visiting the New York City building that was featured in the sitcom.
Perry, 54, died Saturday at his home in Los Angeles, California. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not yet released Perry's cause of death. Perry was best known for playing Chandler Bing on "Friends."
"Friends" ran for 10 years with 236 total episodes, featuring Perry as a fan favorite. The character Chandler Bing was known for his multi-season romantic arc with the character Monica Geller, played by Courtney Cox. Perry and each of his five co-stars were earning upward of $1 million per episode by the show ended in 2004, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
For years, tourists have flocked to the so-called "Friends" building, located in Manhattan's Greenwich Village. Though the sitcom was actually shot in a Los Angeles studio, the exterior of the Greenwich Village building was used as an establishing shot throughout the sitcom's 10 seasons.
Nicola Cardone, who recently visited the apartment, posted a video from outside the building that said it had "never felt so empty."
"This was not the edit I was planning," the caption says. "R.I.P Matthew."
Police sources say they found Perry unresponsive in his hot tub at around 4 p.m. on Saturday, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Perry had been vocal about his alcoholism and drug addiction in recent years. TMZ, the outlet that first reported the news of his death, reported that police did not find drugs at the scene.
