2021 isn’t off to the best start for TikTok star Dixie D’Amelio. Following a spat of online hate, she shocked fans on January 8 when she tweeted ‘Goodbye Twitter… it was fun.’ After which her account was no longer on the social media platform.

But her timing caused fans to question whether her decision was linked to Donald Trump’s suspension from Twitter.

Dixie, who is known for her viral TikTok dances and being big sis to Charli D’Amelio, later took to Instagram to shut down these claims. “I don’t f*cking support Trump,” she said on her Story, “my timing was just awful lol.”

Backing her claim that she’s over the online hate, Dixie added, “I’ve said it 100 f*cking times… the reason I deleted Twitter was because I spend way too much time reading hate.”

Dixie and her lil sis Charli are no strangers to online trolling and have both come under scrutiny since they rose to fame. In December Dixie was forced to delete a teaser for her new song One Whole Day after receiving a wave of criticism.

Despite the haters, the sisters have a combined following of more than 150 million on TikTok, with their posts clocking upwards of 10 million likes.

And the influencers are in line for more success with their very own reality TV show due to hit screens later this year. The D’Amelio Show is an eight-part unscripted documentary series set to be the new Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

The show will offer a glimpse into the lives of the D’Amelio’s, with the family hoping to show a side you don’t see on TikTok.

In a statement, dad Mark D’Amelio said, “many people create impressions of us based off of short content, a few minutes or even seconds. But now, we’re looking forward to sharing a side that you likely don’t get to see on our social channels.”
